Principal’S message
Dear Parents, Families and School Community,
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all of you for your incredible support and attendance at our Black History Month assembly. The event was truly exceptional, and it’s clear that your partnership with our teachers, along with your dedication, passion, and commitment to our students, played a key role in its success. The strong connection between home and school is always instrumental in creating meaningful experiences for everyone—especially our students.
This celebration gave our families a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the outstanding academic achievements and vibrant celebrations that take place daily at Jesse Owens. The "Going for the Gold" Black History performances were a clear highlight of the month, showcasing the incredible talents of our students.
For our Ready to Thrive early childhood grades (3K-2nd), the performances were filled with an inspiring sense of confidence and joy. Their singing, dancing, introductions, dialogue, and dramatic expressions were not only adorable but also a powerful reflection of the nurturing, empowering environment we foster here at our school. These young performers truly embodied the spirit of the assembly, demonstrating their limitless potential while honoring Black History.
The Ready to Soar students in grades 3 through 5 also took center stage with impressive showmanship. Their combination of singing, captivating dance routines, compelling drama, and even a ‘Fashion Show’ allowed them to reflect the power and legacy of Black history in such a dynamic and engaging way. Their ability to confidently introduce themselves, recite lines, and perform in front of an audience was a testament to their growth and commitment to honoring Black History.
Thank you once again for helping make this event a success and for your continued support in fostering a rich, inclusive educational experience for all our students.
Warm Regards, Principal Funtleyder
